About Mark Hansen
Mark Hansen is a psychotherapist who has been practicing in Asia since 2017. Mark is the Founder and Managing Director of the Asia Therapy Collective Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based private psychotherapy practice. He has worked since 2017 at Clarity Singapore, a community mental health center in Singapore, where he works primarily with adult clients. He has also worked at Limitless Singapore since 2022 where he works primarily with teenage and adolescent clients.
He is a California Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapist (#147103). He is a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society (#FM019079H), American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (#173331), and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (#144983). He is an associate member of the American Psychological Association (#C2405149121).
Mark has received training in several therapy protocols, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Depth Psychology, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) Levels 1 & 2, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Level 1 & 2, Schema Therapy Level 1, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Level 1, Existential Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Since beginning his therapy career, Mark has been under the clinical supervision of Dr Kit S Ng, a former US university professor in psychology and author of several books on family therapy in Asia.
Mark Hansen received his MA in Counseling Psychology, with emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, and Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. His Masters thesis was entitled “A Well-Regulated Family: An Assessment Approach for Treating Asian Business Families.”
Mark previously worked as senior banking executive at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) where he was Head of Asia Governance & Strategic Initiatives and served as a board member in SCB Vietnam, SCB Korea and Permata Bank (Indonesia). Prior to that, he was a strategy partner at management consulting firm Booz Allen & Hamilton in their Asian practice.
Mark also holds a MA in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a BA in economics (honors) and modern foreign languages from Cornell University. He also studied Chinese at Mandarin Training Center at the Taiwan National Normal University.
Mark holds US and Italian citizenship and has been a Singapore Permanent Resident since 1994. He has lived in Asia since 1987.
